More than half of New Jersey business owners surveyed in December said the state’s complete recovery from Sandy will take more than a year.
A quarter of the industry leaders polled by the state Chamber of Commerce in December told researchers they expect the shape of the state’s economy to worsen this year.

Echoing the message sent by Governor Christie following Superstorm Sandy, most polled said the recovery would take longer than a year, with a third forecasting it would take three years.
The results, in the chamber’s annual business-confidence survey, show a majority believe the effects of Sandy will be felt long after November’s gubernatorial election.
Hopes for 2013′s economic performance have dominated Trenton’s recent agenda, becoming important politically for Christie and as a litmus-test for companies deciding whether New Jersey is a satisfactory place to do business.
